Due to the current health crisis, the Bois-de-la-Bâtie animal park is closed until further notice.
A firm favourite with families, the Bois-de-la-Bâtie animal park offers residents of the city the chance to see some of our native animal species. Initially created to familiarise the urban population with the region’s wildlife, it now contributes to the conservation of heritage species.
The Bois-de-la-Bâtie is much loved for its animal park covering approximately 2.5 hectares, open free of charge every day. Dogs are prohibited.
Familiarising the population with the region’s wildlife
The Bois-de-la-Bâtie animal park enables visitors to observe numerous species of regional wildlife or farm animals all year round. The park is particularly popular with families in spring time, when the park’s residents give birth to a number of babies.

If you want to get some fresh air without leaving Geneva, the animal park and playgrounds at the Bois-de-la-Bâtie are an ideal destination for kids, ages 0 to12! The park is centrally located, just above Jonction.
There are tons of cute and funny animals: sweet "Bambi" and stinkin' wooly pigs, and Swiss mountain goats with the special name of "Peacock Goats" as well as regular peacocks strutting around and making wheels, families of ibex with impressive horns, hares and tortoises basking in the sun, all sorts of hens and fowls, and many other mammals, birds, vultures and reptiles. It's really nice to see our kids discovering animals typically found in Switzerland, some being unfortunately endangered species. Even wee ones, deeply-seated in their strollers, are fascinated observers.
Right next to the animal park, you’ll find play areas, slides, and swings appropriate for the various stages of development and needs of our kids, allowing them to work hard at play. It's just a great place! Baby animals, newborns are often seen in spring, the season of love at the animal park. In summer the paddling pool is pleasantly large, super-clean (the water is changed every night) and nice and fresh (in the morning, at least...) Older kids will love the football pitch while little ones will be delighted by the sandpits. If you’ve run out of drinks and things to eat, you can choose between one of the two restaurants (the one by the waterfront and hidden away is charming, the other, nothing out of the ordinary).
