Kids today know almost everything there is to know about dolphins, leopards and dinosaurs, but many have not seen a hen up close.
Conscious and concerned by this situation, Fermexplore’s founding team give itself the mission to provide opportunities for children and their families to discover farm animals and to re-establish close relationships with them. Its recreational programs encourage us to get to know and understand the environment and develop respect for the world around us.
Fermexplore is located near an organic farm in Bournens, about 10 kilometers north of Lausanne and runs a variety of activities everyday, except for Sunday.
Family visits (45-60 minutes): The day’s guide welcomes visitors. She explains expected conduct and teaches them about the animals. Taking into consideration the age and interest of participants, the guide will speak about the latest news on the farm and answer questions. Each visitor may, depending on his or her capacity and wishes, approach and pet most of the animals. This special contact is also respectful of each animal, as it may happen that some may not want to be petted.
Family modules (2.5 hours): For a group of at least 4 children, ages 4 to 10. A visit with a few activities from the “school” modules and a recipe (making butter, Madeleine, growing watercress).
