Satigny, the largest wine-making commune in Switzerland, is known for its agriculture and vineyards. It's inn accommodates up to 120 guests, with a veranda seating 25 and a lovely cafe for 40.

The "auberge" in Satigny is super convenient for family outings because it is located right next to a sports center and a park with a great playground! The restaurant is open seven days a week and always full. Good quality meals are varied and the inn's staff are used to families and children, providing them with a warm welcome. Although not listed on the menu, it is possible to order children's menus (pizza, pasta, nuggets...), just ask. Older kids may appreciate these dishes as much as my son appreciates meat grilled on slate, especially springbok, an exceptionally tender meat.

Kids love to see roles reversed, especially when adults have to wear gigantic bibs (only when you order slate-grilled meat, I assure you!). High-chairs are naturally available but more importantly, the opportunity for kids to play outside, weather permitting. 1 to 3 years olds though should not be allowed outside without adult supervision as the stairs leading to the play ground are quite steep and require an adult's accompanying hand. So.... unless you prefer to go climb stairs back and forth instead of enjoying a meal (ok, more of a calorie-burning activity, but that's not the point, is it smiley?), you are better off trying this restaurant once your kids are old enough to handle the stairs safely without you. The way to the soccer field and fenced-in playground is well-secured, with no need to cross the road. Think of bringing a ball, because the stadium is yours if no games are taking place. Ask to be seated at one of the tables with a view on the play areas when you prefer to keep an eye on the children.

Good to know: the regional train (RER) takes 10 minutes from Cornavin... and the inn is a 6-minute walk from the station. The countryside truly is at the city's doorstep! Surrounding vineyards provide the ideal setting for bucolic and leisurely walks, with absolutely stupendous colors early in the fall, while the nearby Nant d'Avril stream's shade and refreshing air are much appreciated in summer.
